Our Mission

Dutch Water was founded with the aim of producing clean and safe drinking water for the people of Kenya as cheaply as possible: Dutch Water for All. This drinking water is either sold at the lowest possible price or donated. Because the water is filtered using state-of-the-art technology from Hatenboer Water, one of the two Dutch founders, it is possible to produce water of a very high quality.

Results:

Since production began in 2007, at that time under the name Dutch Water Limited, hundreds of thousands of people have now been able to drink our clean water, with a fantastic result: the water has been rated the best by an independent body amongst countless producers in Kenya, and has therefore helped to improve the health of all these people. In addition, several of our employees have been able to build up a pension using their salary from Dutch Water.

And one specific target group stands out in these results: we currently provide 61 schools (each with between around 300 and 4,000 pupils) with healthy and clean drinking water through donations. This amounts to over 46,000 children, who together receive more than 3 million litres per year. The children drink clean and healthy drinking water free of charge at school six days a week. The result? Teachers at these schools reported that the children fell ill less often and were able to concentrate better.

As the headteacher of Utange Primary School said:

โ€œThe minute children drink unhealthy water; you can tell almost immediately. Several teachers will start reporting absenteeism due to waterborne related issues. The teachers even try to call Dutch Water themselves, and parents of the children even ask if they can fetch water from school to take home. This water is liquid gold!โ€
